My window herb garden

For starters, I bought basil, rosemary, cilantro, sage, oregano and parsley.

My new place of work is right next to Union Square and every New Yorker knows that once or twice a week, there is the farmers' market. Actually, I was told that farmers/vendors come on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Back then, whenever I am in the area, I would get curious at what type of food are sold at the Union Square Farmers' Market. Organic seems to be the theme of the goods sold here. That means that prices are a bit steep but the produce are good for ones health and well being. No fertilizers, no pestisides. For me, what is important is that the produce are fresh and taste much better than those in the regular grocery.

There are home made jams and jelly, cheese made from milk from cow, goat and sheep, seafoods, fresh eggs, homemade fruit juices and most important, are the organic fruits and vegetables. I should not forget the artisan bread. Plants and flower are also available as some farmers find that sales from these plants and flowers are a good source of income that can supplement their income from their sales from farm produce.

For me, it just seems practical to buy these herb plants, as most of the time, when I buy these herbs, I probably need only a small amount. Most of it goes to waste. This scenario is very common to someone who likes to cook with fresh herbs. At the end, the cost per use is really expensive, if I can make a conclusion. So, let me experiment and see how my herb garden grows and I will write about the meals I can prepare from them. Good luck to me.....
