Bouillabaisse

This is my one of my Mom's most popular dish. On special occasions, my Mom will cook this dish and everyone would hover around the pot and ignore the other dishes. I tried to recreate this several times and can't seem to get it right.
Although I created a roux, and it seems the soup does not have the right consistency. Secret is the extra can of mushroom soup.
For those who enjoy seafoods, this soup is for you. It has mussels, manila clams, shrimps and fish chunks(I used salmon here) . My Mom add oysters and crabs in her version. I can probably add oysters and blue crabs next time I plan to cook this soup. Adding the celery and red peppers was my own twist, as I can remember if my Mom has any veggies to her soup.

Japanese fried noodles

It is know as Yakisoba, which means fried noodles in Japanese. The fried noodles (pancit canton or ramen could be used as alternative to soba noodles) with cabbage and onions were cooked in Tonkasu sauce. The sir fried noodles and veggies were then topped with fried sliced pork marinated in soy sauce and cornstarch. Make sure to not overcook the onions and cabbage ; it should be crunchy. Garnish with sliced scallions.

My friend Kyoko showed me how to create this quick, simple Japanese dish.

Sushi and Sashimi in Canada

Everyone enjoyed the sushi and sashimi on our last day at Mississauga. For dessert, it's green tea ice cream with fried bananas. Our host family suggested that we have dinner at their favorite resto called Sushi Tei.
