2009 New York City Restaurant week

Rosa Mexicana known for its upscale authentic Mexican dishes
we have been planning on trying Rosa Mexicana but never had the chance until last January. It was restaurant week in New York City and the restaurants are offering pre-fix meals at reasonable prices(less than$50 per person). We decided that it's the time to try their famous guacamole.
Prepared tableside, in their signature mortar and pestle, the guacamole taste like butter. The Guacamole en Molcajete are freshly made with avocado, jalapeno, tomato, onion and cilantro. Served with warm corn tortilla, tortilla chips, salsa pasilla de Oaxaca and
salsa tomatillo y habanero. No one should pass on the guacamole and the sangria. I could go back to Rosa Mexicana just for the guacamole.

The guacamole(first course), plus the main entree and dessert cost $35 per person.
For our main course, my daughter chose the salmon with roasted pineapple and black beans with tropical fruit mole sauce. Rice topped with minced cilantro and refried cooked beans topped with queso fresco were also provided. I chose the Carne Asada. Grilled skirt steak marinated in guajillo and pasilla chiles, cumin, pepper, and garlic, was served with beans, green salad and corn with Chihuahua cheese.
For dessert we both picked the flan de coco. Coconut flan served with roasted pineapple-vanilla sabayon.

The sangria was another $35, but it so worth it. The big pitcher could easily serve four.
